Spring 2025, Death, and New Life
As the 2025 Easter weekend approaches, the Biomass Rules winter compost pile nears ready-to-apply status. This photo illustrates all the undervalued organics from 2024, being prepared to add organic matter to the ancient clay soils, which after last year’s construction, are now my yard.
Most of the current compost pile is former invasive species, and leaves (discarded biosolar collectors), and cardboard. It will be spread on the new yard in the coming weeks, adding more organic matter than nutrients. Turning compost is therapy. New-life-after-death therapy no less.
It is the cycle of life. Growth, death, recycling of nutrients, more growth.
In this photo, there are:
- A ray of light (external energy).
- Century old hardwoods in the background.
- More, enthusiastically growing invasives erupting in the undergrowth.
Last weekend, the raised garden beds were all topped off. With each scoop of my not-quite-finished compost that was added, dozens of worms were also added. It felt like worms were being added to all the beds, more than additional growing material.
In the world beyond this property, the economy is on fire. But neighborhood farm fields are being planted for new crops, the woods are teaming with new life, and rotting organic matter is being recycled into new resources.
Peace be with you. New life overcomes death.
Biomass Rules!
