Wood Pellet Mill Receives Stewardship Certification, NY

Published by Mark at 7:40 am under Biomass Policy, Fuel Pellets, Standards

As part of the Rainforest Alliance’s SmartWood program, Curran Renewable Energy, LLC (NY) will become the first certified producer and distributor of wood pellets. The FSC certification of the mill and the forests ensures that the company sources its wood from well-managed forests that ensure long-term productivity and conserve biodiversity. –mj: I am not sure this is THE answer, but consumers are willing to pay more for a differentiated product like this, it may make sense.
